Basic Unit Conversions

Throughout this site there will be numerous articles that give dimensions and quantities. Where possible, dual metric and Imperial units will be provided. However, for your reference (and our own) here are some basic conversions between metric and Imperial units and vice versa:

Length

• 1 meter(m) = 3.28 feet(ft)
• meter(m) = 1.09 yards(yd)
• foot(ft) = 0.305 meters(m)
• yard(yd) = 0.915 meters(m)

• 1 kilometer(km) = 1.61 miles(mi)
• 1 mile(mi) = 0.62 kilometers(km)

Volume

• 1 liter(L) = 1000 milliliters(mL)
• 1 milliliter(mL) = 1 cubic centimeter(cc,cm³)
• 1 liter(L) = 0.264 US gallons(USgal)
• 1 US gallon(USgal) = 3.79 liters(L)
• 1 US quart(qt) = 0.946 liters(L)
• 1 US pint(pt) = 0.473 liters(L)
• 1 ounce(oz) = 29.6 milliliters(mL)

Mass

• 1 kilogram(kg) = 2.205 pounds(lb)
• 1 pound(lb) = .454 kilograms(kg)
• 1 kilogram(kg) = 1000 grams(g)
